I´ll have my cerveza with a slice of Lima por favor.

Hola!

Still no pictures yet my friends. Relax. I´ve been here for all of 9 hours. Rosa´s brother Jorge was nice enough to pick me up from the airport... at 4:30 in the morning. I´m not sure i´d do that for a complete stranger so needless to say I was incredibly grateful to have my arrival to the hostel be a safe one. If you guys want to check out where I´m staying watch this little slideshow! :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aumL5tsTFDI&feature=related

I slept about 4 hours and woke up to the smell of peruvian pancakes and eggs. Had a mystery fruit smoothie for breakfast and headed out the door with an adorable couple Caroline (American) and Damien (Australian) to grab some lunch. Ahhh international love. My lunch was nothing to write home about. I played it safe. Chicken, salad, and potatoes. But minutes after I got back a co-worker said he was going to take me out to lunch on the company. BRING IT LIMA. Lunch #2 I didn´t eat much but David had avocado stuffed with corn and peas and chipotle mayo. YUM. I tried the local beer, ¨Cusqueña. It´s better than Sevilla´s cruzcampo.... sorry.

I´m just relaxing today and trying to work out a schedule of where i´ll be for the next few months. Looks like I have a big say and may split my time 4 ways. Lima, Máncora, Arequipa and Cusco!

Wish me luck.
Nos vemos.

Challenge Accepted.

Setting of the day: Sprawled out on the floor with my suitcase.
Quote of the day: A traveler without observation is a bird without wings.

I'm beginning this blog with hope that I will be able to better balance my time spent in Peru and that spent calling home. I hope to capture a fraction of the beauty that I always encounter while traveling in a foreign place and therefore have begun this photoblog. This time, my reason for travel isn't to study or for pure entertainment (although I'm certain I will learn and have a blast). I have accepted a job event planning for a youth hostel in Lima/Máncora, Peru. I'm packing up my things and will be arriving in Lima in one week's time.

CHALLENGE ACCEPTED.
If you are reading my blog and feel like you would like to live vicariously through me... I will be accepting paid challenges.
Example: "Jess. I will give you $5 to try Peru's delicacy: guinea pig."
Boom. Challenge accepted. I eat guinea pig. Document it. Post it. You donate $5.
Example 2: "Jess. I would love to be swimming right now but it's October in Boston and its freezing. Can you go night swimming in the ocean for me? I will give you $1."
Challenge accepted.

Alright friends, don't disappoint.
See you in Peru.
